Ronda Rousey Announces Next Opponent

Ronda Rousey is getting back into the ring and she’s revealed her next opponent – and unfortunately, it’s not Floyd Mayweather.

“January 2, I’ll be fighting Holly Holm, who is actually the most decorated striker we have in all of Mixed Martial Arts,” Rousey announced on “Good Morning America” on Friday.

“[She’s] definitely my biggest challenge to date — so I’m super excited about it,” the MMA superstar noted.

While Holm – a 33-year-old fighter who was named Ring Magazine’s Female Fighter of the Year in 2005 and 2006 – may present a challenge, Rousey (as always) remains supremely confident.

“Of course. I can take anybody. She’s not the first undefeated chick I’ve fought,” she deadpanned, when asked if she’d be able to defeat her latest opponent.

But will Holm last longer than Rousey’s last fight, which was over in 34 seconds?

“I prepare for a 5-round war every time I get in there. No one’s easy until after you beat them,” she added. “With Holly Holm, she’s the type that is ready to go 12 boxing rounds. She’s not the average chick that I would fight. She’s the best striker I’ve ever fought and striking is something I learned much later in my career, and so I don’t ever expect fights to be easy and fast.”

Rousey’s past three fights – all victories – have lasted a combined total of 64 seconds.
