Rosie & Elisabeth Get Heated On ‘The View’ Again

Hasselbeck continued to speak over Joy as she carried on reading the list and it was as that discussion wrapped up that Elisabeth said the phrase “the enemy is in Iraq.”“You just said our enemy is in Iraq . . . Did Iraq attack us,” Rosie probed Elisabeth.

“No,” Hasselbeck responded. “I’m saying Al Qaeda.”The discussion then began to spiral, referencing a recent “View” conversation which later saw Rosie attacked in the press for her opinions on Iraq. Rosie said Republican pundits suggested she believed our troops were terrorists. As the discussion continued, the show put the two women in split screen mode.

“If you’re playing a game and I say I’m throwing to my receiver wide right, okay what does that do for your enemy Rosie?,” Elisabeth asked.“Well Elisabeth, if the enemy are innocent civilians, I don’t’ want to play that kind of football,” Rosie responded angrily as the audience cheered her on.As the war of words continued, even Joy stepped in to try and smooth things over.“Don’t yell at each other,” she exclaimed. “Please, lets have a conversation.”Rosie retorted quickly.“You know why I don’t want to do this Joy? Let me tell you . . . because here’s how it gets spun in the media: Rosie, big fat lesbian Rosie attacks innocent Christian Elisabeth and I’m not doing it for the rest of time.”As the debate continued Rosie turned to Elisabeth, who she accused of not defending her after she was attacked in the media for some of her recent comments.“Do you think that I believe that our troops are terrorists,” Rosie asked Elisabeth. Hasselbeck tried to avoid the question but finally seemed to answer saying, “I don’t believe that you believe troops are terrorists,” she began. “I have said that before but when you say something like 650,000 Iraqis are dead we invaded them . . . I am all about facts and you tell me don’t use facts ‘cause you want me to go only on emotion? Guess what? I like facts.”Behar then referenced the list she was interrupted reading earlier saying it was full of facts.Guest panelist Sherri Shepherd tried to throw the show to commercial, but Rosie protested.“No, no, no we’re not because we have a lot more time,” O’Donnell said eventually promising to not engage in any more verbal spats with her co-host.“That’s why I’m not going to fight with you anymore because it’s absurd, so for three weeks you can say all the Republican crap you want.”Hasselbeck angrily responded at Rosie’s refusal to continue the rant, by bringing up Donald Trump.“It’s much easier to fight someone like Donald Trump because he is obnoxious,” Elisabeth said as the audience gasped.“I never fought him,” Rosie retorted. “He fought me. I told a fact about him. He didn’t like it.”The two then turned to name-calling.“I asked you if you believe what the Republican pundits were saying,” Rosie noted. “You said nothing and that was cowardly.”Those comments enraged Elisabeth.“Don’t call me a coward,” Hasslebeck exclaimed. “I sit here every day and open my heart and tell people exactly what I believe . . . It was not cowardly. It was honest . . . asking a rhetorical question? That is cowardly. I need a drink of water, let’s go to commercial.”The show then cut to commercial and the issue was dropped as they moved on to their guests. For more on today’s “View” fracas, tune in to Access Hollywood tonight.
