Rosie O’Donnell Weighs In On Miley Cyrus; Worries She’ll Be ‘The Flavor Of The Week’

Rosie O’Donnell has weighed in on Miley Cyrus and twerk-gate telling Access Hollywood she’s worried about her, but also wants everyone to lay off the young star.

Access caught up with the always outspoken star recently, where she spoke about Miley’s rocket ride to fame and the possible pitfalls.

“Fame is a toxic and lethal drug and most adults can’t handle it. Now, give it to a child and they’re going have some turbulent adolescent years and 20 years old, to me, she’s still a kid. She’s not even legal yet,” the 51-year-old told Access.

Access told Rosie about Simon Cowell’s take on Miley, who said the singer is a “100 percent” marketing genius, but the TV star, who joins ABC Family’s “The Fosters” for a guest arc in Season 2, had a different spin on the matter.

“That probably is what Simon Cowell thinks… I worry more about her longevity in terms of health and happiness than whether or not she’s the flavor of the week,” she said.

Last month, at Rosie’s Theater Kids 10th Anniversary Gala in New York, the mother of five spoke to Access about the young star following Miley’s headline-making MTV VMAs performance.

“She’s still very young and to grow up in the spotlight is difficult… everybody needs to cut her a little bit of a break and somebody who’s close to her and loves her needs to hold her tight and whisper in her hear that the rough waves will soon pass,” she continued. “She’s going grow up, she’s got a little bit of a heartbreak from what I heard or read or seen… but I just wish the best for her, like all of the young ones.

“Whether it’s Britney [Spears] or Lindsay [Lohan] or now Miley,” she continued. “I’m always rooting for them and always hoping that they find a safe harbor.”
