Rosie On Britney: ‘There Are Only Inches Of Separation Between Vulnerability & Insanity’

Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell, a longtime fan and supporter of Britney Spears hit her blog to lash out at the media circus that surrounded the singer, on Monday.

In a post, titled “twenty-six,” Britney’s age, Rosie criticized the paparazzi, who were out in force covering the pop star due to a hearing going on in downtown Los Angeles over the custody of Britney’s two children.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Britney turned up at court yesterday shortly after 1PM, exited her vehicle and after a short time, proceeded to get back in the black SUV and drive away.

She later went to a church and the Gaucho Grill, an Argentinian restaurant before returning home.

“She will be trying to get away, but they will chase her, just as they chased her into that church yesterday,” Rosie wrote. “There were dozens of them, jostling their way into sanctuary, elbowing past each other, just to creep closer to her. Even her last-minute, folded-hand prayers can’t be kept sacred. There can be no silent moments in a crowd; no silence, and no secrets.”

Rosie seemed angry, noting that following Britney is a fruitful affair for the paparazzi.

“All this fresh, painful frailty costs her so much, but it lines their pockets very well. A kings ransom was paid for those tabloid-ready cheap shots of her with messy hair, tear-soaked eyes, and the half-smile of a desperate baby girl,” she wrote.

The former “View” moderator seemed to try and explain why Britney never made it inside the courtroom where the custody of her children was being decided.

“Sometimes it really is too much. Internal wires cross. Anxiety hits. Panic sets in the heart. Dread. Fear,” she wrote.

The always-vocal personality went on to suggest that because Britney was a child star, she did not have a childhood.

“At eight years old, she bravely stood before a microphone. By 17, she had sold 25 million records. Where were the sidewalk-skinned knees, the chalk stained hands, the monkey bars, the passed notes? A Disney set is not a childhood, no matter how many bright colors they use, or how cheerful the script,” she blogged.

And, like many commentators have of late, Rosie also noted that the situation with the singer appears to be at a crossroads.

“The tunnel is crowded now. There are only inches of separation between vulnerability and disaster,” she wrote.
