Royal Pains Star Mark Feuerstein: We Accidentally Named Our Son After A Soap Star

Mark Feuerstein’s son will be on the receiving end of plenty of “General Hospital” jokes throughout his lifetime, but the “Royal Pains” star — who, along with wife Dana, named his son Frisco Jones — says the soap moniker was strictly coincidental.

“We just liked the name Frisco – we liked the double ‘F.’ So we sent out the e-mail to all our friends [saying] ‘Frisco Jones Feuerstein has been born,’” the actor explained to Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “Fifteen minutes later, my wife’s good friend Elizabeth calls her and says, ‘Umm… Are you guys huge [‘General Hospital’] fans?’ We’re like, ‘No, why?’ Jack Wagner’s character on ‘General Hospital’ was Dr. Frisco Jones for the last 25 years.

“So, our son is an inadvertent walking homage to Jack Wagner,” he added, laughing.

Frisco is the only boy for Mark and Dana (they also have two daughters, Lila Jane and Addie). As the couple celebrates seven years of marriage, Mark said he’s as happy as he’s ever been.

“I’m not itchy, I love my wife. There’s no seven year itch happening,” he joked.

Mark also revealed Henry Winkler (who joined “Royal Pains” in 2010, playing Mark’s character’s father) will be returning, while Ed Asner, who plays Mark’s grandfather, may or may not be back for more Hamptons doctor duty.

“Yes!” Mark said, when asked if Henry will appear on the series again. “Ed Asner I can’t speak to, although I just did an ad for him for a charity called Heifer International where you can buy your children a goat or a cow and give it to a family in a third world country.

“So Ed and I are still connected by that PSA that we did,” he added.

“Royal Pains” airs Wednesdays at 9 PM on USA.
