Ruben Studdard is a married man.
The winner of “American Idol” Season 2 married Surata Zuri McCants on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama, a rep for 19 Management, who handle the star, confirmed to OK! magazine.
Studdard married McCants at Canterbury United Methodist Church.
According to People, Studdard had 20 groomsmen.
OK! reported 200 people attended the ceremony.
Studdard famously met McCants after he followed her around a Wal-Mart in Atlanta, where he was signing copies of his CD in 2006. They met in the toy department where he got her phone number.
“I was signing copies of my CD and she came in to get one signed for her friend who couldn’t get off from work,” Ruben told The Birmingham News. “We started talking, and she was telling me about her friend. But I just looked at her and thought, `She is so beautiful.’”
