Rupert Grint Says Kissing Emma Watson Was ‘Strange’ & ‘Weird’

“Harry Potter” fans had to wait through seven books before Hermione and Ron finally kissed, and with the release of the sixth film approaching, series star Rupert Grint explained to Access Hollywood what it was like kissing co-star Emma Watson.

“We did the kiss not long ago,” Rupert said, referring to a scene he recently shot for the final movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which will be released in two parts. “And it was very strange… a very weird kind of experience.”

Emma has said that kissing Rupert felt like kissing her brother, which Rupert agreed with.

“It was kind of like that for me as well,” he told Access. “I’ve known her for half my life. I’ve known her since she was nine, so it’s kind of weird, but it was alright.”

In order to get the shot, the actors were forced to lock lips more than once.

“We did about five takes,” he recalled. “It was over pretty quick.”

Though their kiss might have been a little creepy due to their longtime friendship, Rupert said he was glad to get the chance to kiss such a lovely co-star.

“It wasn’t horrible, obviously,” he said. “She’s a lovely girl.”

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” opens in theaters on July 15, while part one of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” comes out in fall 2010.
