LOS ANGELES (May 18, 2007) — Chalk this up as better late than never.
After Reese Witherspoon filed for divorce from Ryan Phillippe in November 2006, Ryan has now filed his response.
In paperwork filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Ryan cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and he is also seeking joint custody of the couple’s two children Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3.
Ryan, 32, is asking visitation rights be “equally allocated.” He is not requesting any spousal support from Reese, and he is not blocking her from requesting any from him.
The couple, who co-starred in the 1999 release “Cruel Intentions,” married that year. They announced their separation October 30, 2006.
