Ryan Phillippe’s Alleged Baby Daddy Drama: Will He Submit To A Paternity Test?

Maybe Ryan Phillippe should just go on “The Maury Povich Show”?

While the big screen stud will reportedly take a paternity test to determine if he is, indeed, the father of ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp’s unborn baby, the two sides are apparently handling the impending news very differently.

According to People, Knapp – a 26-year-old actress, whose film credits include “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and the upcoming “So Undercover” with Miley Cyrus – is excited and busy preparing for the new bundle of joy, who is reportedly due in June.

“She’s doing really well, handling everything and just taking it day by day,” a source told the mag. “She’s excited for the baby!”

However, when it comes to Phillippe, who dated the actress on and off during the summer of 2010, he isn’t commenting on the matter, just yet.

“In all likelihood, Ryan’s not doing or saying anything publicly until there’s a paternity test that proves he’s the father,” a source close to the “Lincoln Lawyer” star told People.

As far as the paternity test goes, it appears Phillippe is willing to submit to a DNA test once the baby is born, according to TMZ. In addition, should the test prove he is the father, a source reportedly told TMZ that the actor will “step up and provide support” for the child.

Knapp reportedly announced the news that she was expecting the actor’s baby at a Hollywood party in February, catching everyone by surprise – including the alleged father-to-be.

“Alexis hadn’t even talked to Ryan before that party,” a source told Us Weekly.

Yet, through all of the speculation, there is one star firmly in Phillippe’s corner, regardless of the outcome – his ex-wife, Reese Witherspoon, with whom the actor has two kids.

“Reese has been really supportive,” another source told Us Weekly. “She knows that Ryan is a good dad [to Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7] and she respects that.”

A rep for Phillippe was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood on Wednesday.

Phillippe’s new movie, “The Lincoln Lawyer,” co-starring Matthew McConaughey, opens wide on Friday.
