Ryan Reynolds & Jason Bateman Get ‘Dark & Dirty’ For ‘The Change-Up’

Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman are teaming up for a twist on the buddy comedy this summer in “The Change-Up” and the actors said their new film is a lot like “Freaky Friday,” with an R rating.

“We’ve seen body-switching movies… You’ve seen them throughout the years, different iterations, but never in the kind of no holds barred, full on, R rated sense. Kind of the way it should be made,” Ryan joked with Access Hollywood at the film’s junket over the weekend.

“The only reason to do it again would be to do it a different way and this is certainly that,” Jason added. “We go to some pretty dark and dirty places.”

One of the dirtiest places involves baby excrement, which lands in Jason’s face in one of the film’s early scenes.

“That was pudding, and it was shot out of a gun of some sort,” Jason told Access.

“Pudding?” Ryan asked. “Where is your commitment, man?”

Jason also has a partial-nude scene in the film, but he warned the chiseled abs that appear on the big screen aren’t exactly due to a lot of hard work.

“They did a lot of shading for me in post production, they kind of chopped up about 45 pounds,” he laughed.

“Walked by his trailer one time,” Ryan jumped in. “Actual Thigh Master action going on in there, really working the Thigh Master he was, yeah. And just like eight Shake Weights just everywhere.”

“The Change-Up” hits theaters on August 5.
