Ryan Reynolds Talks ‘Deadpool’ Movie: ‘It’s Going To Be Incredible’

Ryan Reynolds made his debut as sword-wielding mercenary Wade Wilson – known as Deadpool — in the May-released “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” and in a new interview with MTV News, he says the character will be back in a big way in a planned spin-off film.

“I love it, because I get to be involved,” Ryan said of developing the movie. “I’m such a huge fan of the character.”

In fact, the star said it’s been his job to make sure the movie stays true to its comic book beginnings.

“I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way,” he told MTV News, praising the studio for wanting to make an “authentic” Deadpool movie. “They want to make it as close to the source material as possible.”

And that means, according to Ryan, including many of the comic book’s details.

“He’s going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [it will have] all those answers that everyone wants,” Ryan said. “He’s going to have the scarred-up face, he’s going to be in the suit — and, it’s going to be incredible.”

In “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” the film concluded with a battle royale between Deadpool, Wolverine and Sabretooth. The gory battle left Ryan’s character headless, but a scene that played after the credits rolled implied he is still alive.

Whether the spin-off will pick up before or after these events is still being decided.

“Right now, it’s just a question of trying to figure out what is the spine of the story,” Ryan said. “Who is the villain? What does Wade and/or Deadpool want?”

Fanboys and girls will have to wait and see, but in the meantime, fans can see Ryan without his weapons in romantic comedy “The Proposal,” out June 19.
