Ryan Seacrest On Simon’s Reported Engagement: It’s ‘More Of A Commitment’

According to numerous reports, Simon Cowell and Mezhgan Hussainy are engaged – and the “American Idol” judge’s girlfriend has been sporting a massive rock on her finger. But according to Ryan Seacrest, the engagement is just “more of a commitment.”

“I have not been invited to a wedding,” Ryan told Access Hollywood at TheWrap.com’s Oscar Party in Beverley Hills, Calif., on Monday night. “I do think that he is sort of following in the wake of the Jonas Bros, I’m not quite sure that it’s an engagement, I think it’s more of a commitment.”

And if Simon and Mezhgan do walk down the aisle – Ryan told Access they better not expect a lavish gift from him.

“My presence,” he said when asked what he would buy Simon. “Me just being around him.”

In other “Idol” news, Ryan said he’s really enjoying having new judge Ellen DeGeneres on the hit FOX series.

“I love her… you can just see how much she cares, you can see it on her face,” he said. “She’s so excited to be there and she cares about those kids and wants them to be successful. So, we’re going to be in for an interesting season, it’s going to be fun.”

And Ryan had a few words of warning for “Idol” contestants who might be resting on their musical laurels.

“I think that the ones in the competition that become complacent and think they are safe, are the most likely to be in trouble,” Ryan told Access. “You can’t assume too much.”
