Samantha Harris To Undergo Double Mastectomy

Samantha Harris is battling breast cancer and the former “Dancing with the Stars” co-host will undergo a double mastectomy.

According to People, the 40-year-old detected a lump in her right breast last fall and a biopsy and a lumpectomy determined she had breast cancer.

“It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest,” Harris told the mag about receiving the news.

After consulting with three specialists, Harris was given two options: a double mastectomy or a second lumpectomy accompanied with radiation.

“I was sick of feeling the way that I did in the days after the diagnosis,” she told the mag. “I knew I needed to take control.”

The mother of two explained that she made the best decision for herself and her family and despite the surgery – scheduled for later this month – she’s been able to find a sense of peace with her treatment choice.
