Sandra Bullock Accepts MTV Generation Award; Kisses Scarlett Johansson

Sandra Bullock’s back – and she doesn’t need applause.

“Sit down! We’re on a time limit here, people,” Sandra joked to the crowd at the MTV Movie Awards, who gave her a standing ovation as she accepted the Generation Award on Sunday night.

In her first televised appearance since announcing the adoption of her son, Louis, and her divorce from Jesse James, Sandra showed the same mix of self-deprecating humor and serious gratitude that she displayed during her surprise appearance at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards on Saturday night (which will be televised on June 20).

“The Generation is an award for old people who have extended their welcome, who should make nice and leave so someone new can come in, but that’s not going to happen,” Sandra said. “No matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do. And I’m not going to go anywhere.”

Looking elegant in a sparkling black dress, she was introduced by past co-stars Bradley Cooper (“All About Steve”) and Betty White (“The Proposal”), as well as Scarlett Johansson, whose husband, Ryan Reynolds, also joined Sandra in “The Proposal.”

“Scarlett, I really love you and all, but this is really uncomfortable. Why are you here?” Sandra said.

“I’m here because Ryan couldn’t be here, and I wanted to be here when you accepted your award for ‘Best Kiss,’” Scarlett said, referring to an award the pair lost to Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart earlier in the night. “I thought you should’ve won because it was sweet, and really soft.”

After some hesitation, the two women shared a smooch, recalling Sandra’s on-stage kiss of Meryl Streep last year.

“Now that we have done that, can we please go back to normal?” Sandra said, referencing her tabloid travails of the last few months. “Therapy is really expensive.”
