Sandra Bullock: ‘If I Really Wanted Statues I Would Have Done Other Films A Long Time Ago’

Sandra Bullock may have beat out stiff competition from the likes of Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Emily Blunt and Gabourey Sidibe to win the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama on Sunday, but winning awards isn’t a part of the actress’ role choosing process.

“You know what, I get all the props I need from the right places,” Sandra told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos before the Globes. “If I really wanted to get statues, I would have done other films a long time ago… I love doing the kinds of things that I do… As long as people are entertained by them, I’m happy.”

Sandra’s Golden Globe win was her first. She picked up the statute for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy who along with her family, took in Michael Oher, a homeless youngster who eventually became an NFL star.

Since its release last year, “The Blind Side” has scored big at the box office, bringing in over $226 million domestically, the highest grossing film led by an A-list actress. But when asked about her box office feat, Sandra threw credit on her peers.

“It’s all shocking,” she said. “There have been so many other actresses like Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep that I think [made] the equivalent five years ago what $200 million [is] now…. They blazed a trail – the path – before I got there and now I’m just following in very good paths and footsteps.”
