“We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two. She is a true ‘Star Wars Rebels’ fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions,” executive producer/supervising director Dave Filoni said on Tuesday at the time of the announcement.

“Star Wars Rebels” will be a bit of a family affair for the former “Buffy” star – her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. is already featured in the series (voicing Kanan Jarrus).

The cast also features the voices of Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and Oscar nominee David Oyelowo.

As evidenced by a photo sent out with the casting news on Tuesday, Gellar is already hard at work in the studio doing voice work for the role, as a press photo showed her alongside Filoni in a recording session.

“Star Wars Rebels” takes place between the events of “Star Wars” Episodes III and IV and tells the story of the crew of the starship Ghost, as they take on “new villains, encounter colorful adversaries and embark on thrilling adventures,” Disney XD noted.

In its second season, “Star Wars Rebels” will feature recurring appearances by fan-favorite characters, including Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s recent TV credits include “Robot Chicken,” “The Crazy Ones” and “Ringer,” as well as voice roles on “American Dad” and “The Simpsons.”
