Sarah Michelle Gellar On ‘Buffy’ Movie: ‘I’m A Little Old’

Now that Kristen Bell has triumphantly taken “Veronica Mars” out of retirement and into theaters, when Access Hollywood caught up with “Buffy” star Sarah Michelle Gellar recently, we had to ask if there’s a chance our favorite vampire slayer will ever hit the silver screen.

“’Buffy’ was [already] a movie. See, I think people forget that,” Sarah told Access’ Liz Hernandez at the TV Academy Hall of Fame event. “’Buffy’ was a movie first, and I don’t know if you guys know this, but it didn’t really work!

“I see you laughing at me over there, but it kind of didn’t work,” she continued, laughing, referencing the Kristy Swanson-fronted 1992 film. “We spent our whole first year or two apologizing for the movie. So, I think it would be an incredibly different pressure.”

In addition to the fact a “Buffy” movie has already been made (not that rebooting is taboo in Hollywood!), the actress – who will turn 37 in April – said she’s not sure her body could keep up with Buffy’s antics at this point.

“Plus, I’m a little old now,” she said. “I feel like Buffy would have a wooden stake walker. I’m not quite sure how that would work.”

Though she doesn’t think a “Buffy” movie is in the cards, the actress said she’s thrilled for Kristen’s “Veronica Mars” success.

“[I’m] so excited for Kristen,” she said. “She worked so hard and she works tirelessly at what she does and I’m incredibly excited for her.”

The “Veronica Mars” movie is in theaters now.
