Sarah Michelle Gellar is revisiting a familiar role.
The actress confirmed her involvement in the "Cruel Intentions" television pilot in a post on Instagram on Wednesday.
Gellar posted a throwback pic, showing her with "Cruel Intentions'" film director Roger Kumble and Executive Producer Neal Moritz, back when they made the 1999 movie. She paired it with a current shot of them all together again.
"#throwbackthursday (a bit early in Los Angeles) this picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions. Its me#rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz(exec producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions. That's right 'everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way' #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv," the actress wrote on Instagram.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot, which is being made for NBC, will see Gellar playing the same role as she did in the film – Kathryn Merteuil -- with the television series set a decade and a half later.
Fans of the original film will have to wait until the spring to learn if the show will be picked up to series.
