Sarah Palin Tells Oprah Winfrey She Knew Her Interview With Katie Couric Went Badly

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin suggests she recognized quickly that she’d done badly in her interview with CBS anchorwoman Katie Couric.

In a written excerpt of an interview scheduled to air Monday on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Palin says that even as campaign advisers told her she’d done well, she knew better.

That interview with Palin — then Sen. John McCain’s running mate — was seen as a major event in the campaign. Critics seized on it as evidence that she wasn’t qualified to be president if something were to happen to McCain.

Palin also talks to Winfrey about Levi Johnston, the father of her grandson. She says Johnston remains an important member of the family and the troubles between him and the rest of the family can be worked out.
