“Rizzoli & Isles” returned to TNT on Tuesday night, and the Season 6 premiere introduced a new face in the crime lab – Kent Drake.
And after seeing him looking rather dapper at the end of the episode, could Adam Sinclair’s character be one FiveFingers shoe step on the road toward becoming Maura Isles’ next love interest?
“I thought that they wrote such a wonderful relationship and they had great moments with the characters and you know, Maura’s a little thrown by this man,” Sasha Alexander told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live on the Universal backlot.

“He has a lot of secrets, so we don’t know who he really is yet, so I’m not sure if he is a love interest or not,” she continued of Kent, who made a nerdy first impression on purpose in the crime lab.
One episode into the new season, though, Laura’s best friend and coworker, Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon), has her guard up.

“Jane and Kent are very adversarial. She doesn’t really like him. So, as you saw by the end, I think she said at one point, ‘I don’t like him. I hate this guy.’ So, it’ll be a fun relationship to see,” Sasha added.
“Rizzoli & Isles” has been a big hit season after season for TNT, and Billy and Kit asked Sasha for her thoughts on the key to the chemistry between the two main characters.
“Like any show, I think it is the magic that you cast it right and then you let it go and you just continue to write good characters that people care about,” she said. “We were so lucky from the very beginning to have wonderful fans that have stayed with us, who truly love these people and want to see their — they watch every choice that they make, whether it is at work or personally or what Maura’s is wearing. They have comments on everything. And I think that’s kind of the beauty of it is you find something and then you just kind of ride the magic and hope you can maintain it and continue to grow as actors, as creative people.”
