Saturday Night Live: Cecily Strong To Co-Anchor Weekend Update

The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With At A Party is about to do a lot more talking!

“Saturday Night Live’s” Cecily Strong will join Seth Meyers at the “Weekend Update” desk on the show’s season premiere – but will Seth continue his time at the desk after he’s left to take over “Late Night”?

In an interview with the New York Times, Executive producer Lorne Michaels shared the news of the newcomer’s new gig.

“Cecily, from the first show, was right there,” Michaels said. “She exploded.”

Lorne noted that “Seth is a unique case,” and said he hoped that because “Late Night” doesn’t tape on Fridays that he could possible continue on at the “Update” desk after this February departure.

New cast members Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, John Milhiser and Noel Wells will join “SNL” alum Tina Fey on the show’s season premiere on September 28.
