Scandal: Bellamy Young – Season 3 Premiere Is ‘Mayhem,’ Will ‘Freak You Out’

Buckle up, gladiators. “Scandal” Season 3 is going to be one heck of a wild ride!

Access Hollywood was first on the set of the ABC drama’s third season, where our Shaun Robinson chatted with Bellamy Young (aka First Lady Mellie Grant) about what fans should be prepared for when Season 3 premieres on Thursday.

“In typical [‘Scandal’ creator] Shonda [Rhimes] fashion, you’re gonna get one giant answer at the end of the first episode, but it’s going to tee up this whole season of drama and stakes and mayhem –absolutely mayhem,” Bellamy told Shaun. “I think the awe you get will freak you out!”

The eerie catchphrase for the political drama’s third season is “The storm is coming,” and Bellamy said “storm” is an understatement.

“We’re talking like those storms that happen in the galaxy, you know? Where meteors and asteroids come through and knock out whole planets! It’s that kind of storm,” she said.

“Yeah, an umbrella’s not going to help you,” the actress added with a laugh.

The season premiere is so explosive, Bellamy said she thinks the show’s loyal gladiators may cause a Twitter crash, or two.

“The script is amazing and for me, there’s one sentence in the very first scene that I literally think [will blow] the first hole in Twitter,” she said. “And then from there, the whole thing is just going to crack open – like wide, wide open.”

Don’t miss the dramatic Season 3 premiere of “Scandal” – Thursday at 10/9c on ABC.
