Scarlett Johansson Not In Running For Rodham; Carey Mulligan Passes On Project

The Hillary Clinton biopic, “Rodham,” can cross off two Hollywood names from their cast wish list.

Rumors have swirled about who will play former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton in the planned biopic, directed James Ponsoldt and written by Young Il Kim, with Scarlett Johansson and Carey Mulligan both in the mix.

But Scarlett, who is currently filming “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” will not be playing the political powerhouse.

“Scarlett has never been asked to do this film,” a rep for the actress told HuffPost Entertainment. “She hasn’t been approached about it nor seen a script. It’s a total fabrication.”

As for Carey, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress passed on the project.

“Rodham” tells the story of the future politician as a young lawyer while on a committee during President Richard Nixon’s impeachment. The movie will also explore her blossoming career and relationship with future President Bill Clinton.
