Schwarzenegger Scandal: Shriver Reportedly Hires Divorce Lawyer, LA Times Reporter Speaks

Prior to the identity of the alleged mother of the child that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered surfacing, People reported that Maria Shriver had previously retained famed Los Angeles family law attorney Laura Wasser.

“Maria hasn’t decided yet if she wants to end her marriage,” a source told the mag. Sources also told the mag that the lawyer was hired before news of the former Calif. Governor’s illegitimate child broke.

Despite the scandal, Shriver continues to remain in the spotlight. Following an appearance at Oprah’s “Farewell Spectacular” in Chicago on Tuesday, the former First Lady of Calif. was spotted with son Christopher and daughter Katherine in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, daughter Katherine, 21, Tweeted, “Everything happens for a reason, the hard part is finding out what that reason is.”

In related news, NBC News also spoke to the reporter who broke the story, Los Angeles Times national correspondent Robin Abcarian.

“We’re still trying to figure out how he was able to conceal this child and his relationship to this child for 13 years. I think what you’re dealing with is someone who is a major Hollywood star who was able to misbehave with impunity,” she told NBC News.

“None of this information was given voluntarily,” Robin continued. “We came forward with info about this child, which he fathered with one of his domestic staffers, and we went with it, but all along the way it was like pulling teeth and there was many denials and then he was confronted with info that he said, ‘Yeah, it’s all true.’”
