Shailene Woodley Named MTV Trailblazer

Shailene Woodley will be this year’s recipient of the MTV Trailblazer Award at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.

“The Divergent Series: Insurgent” star was selected for the honor, which “recognizes actors who are blazing a distinctive and innovative path for their Hollywood peers,” MTV said in a release.

Her co-star Miles Teller will present her with the special golden bucket of popcorn during the ceremony next month.

“Shailene Woodley is one of the most talented actresses of this generation,” MTV president Stephen Friedman said in the release. “Whether baring her soul in emotionally charged roles in ‘The Descendants’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ or igniting our imagination in sci-fi blockbusters like ‘Insurgent,’ Shailene has raised the bar for actresses navigating diverse and challenging roles professionally, while personally remaining down-to-earth and accessible to her fans.”

Shailene is nominated in three additional categories this year at the MTV Movie Awards – Best Female, Best Duo and Best Kiss – for her role in “The Fault in Our Stars.”
