Shakira & Usher Talk Joining The Voice Coaches’ Table

Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have parted ways (for now) with “The Voice,” and filling those chairs when the show returns for Season 4 in March are Usher and a very pregnant Shakira.

“Hasn’t been easy, but I have a lot of energy. I can go long hours,” Shakira told Access Hollywood when we visited the set at the end of 2012.

Shakira is due any day now, but when the live tapings come around, she’ll be in top form, and likely joking with returning coach Adam Levine, just like she did when we interviewed the coaches.

“I’m thrilled to be here and I’m sure he is too,” she said, referring to her baby on the way.

“She’s going to name the baby Adam actually,” the Maroon 5 rocker joked. “It’s a great name. It’s a strong name. Strong name.”

“Means ‘The first man,’” Shakira pointed out.

“It doesn’t get much better than that,” Adam laughed.

Although Shakira is the new face alongside Usher, the two are definitely not pushovers in their coaches’ chairs.

“I underestimated her,” Adam said.

“And I stole a couple of contestants from him,” she noted.

The coaches are past filming the blind audition phase, and Usher, who discovered Justin Bieber, admitted it wasn’t easy.

“I have a confession… There was a contestant who actually sang background for me,” Usher revealed as he sat down alongside Blake Shelton for the Access interview.

“On this season?” Blake asked.

“Totally did not recognize her voice!” Usher added.

A few surprises and a lot of bonding!

“The dynamic has changed for sure,” Blake, who recently won Season 3 with Cassadee Pope, said. “It’s really fun, I mean, we’ve all…”

“I’ve been able to bring out his inner MC Hammer,” Usher added.

Season 4 of “The Voice” premieres March 25 on NBC.
