Sheriff: Simon Herbert Caused Shia LaBeouf Crash

The other driver in Shia LaBeouf’s recent car accident was 21-year-old Simon Herbert, Access Hollywood has learned.

According to a spokesman for the LA County Sheriff’s, Herbert ran a red light and was responsible for the crash.

“We have determined that he caused the accident,” a spokesman for the Sheriff’s department told Access.

A citation was issued to Simon for running the red light on Aug. 15. He is to appear in court in September.

As previously reported by Access, the second vehicle hit Shia’s truck as he attempted to make a left hand turn on the corner of Fountain and La Brea in the early morning hours of July 27, causing the truck to flip over.

He and passenger Isabel Lucas were taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where LaBeouf underwent hand surgery. He has since returned to the set of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

As for Shia’s blood tests, the spokesman told Access that the police still haven’t received them from the hospital and that it could be another three weeks until the blood work comes back.

Previously, “Transformers” director Michael Bay claimed to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on “The Billy Bush Show” that LaBeouf was not drunk at the time of the crash.

“You’re gonna see — that’s gonna go away,” Bay claimed . “He was not drunk. He was drinking hours and hours before.”
