Shia LaBeouf: I Dropped Acid For Movie Role

Shia LaBeouf is committing to his craft in a big way!

The 26-year-old actor recently opened up about shooting the upcoming mob movie, “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman,” where both his character – and the actor, himself — go on an acid trip.

“There’s a way to do an acid trip like ‘Harold & Kumar,’ and there’s a way to be on acid,” he told USA today.

Adding, “Sometimes, it does get real… Too real for a [director] who’s trying to keep a diplomatic set.”

“Charlie Countryman,” directed by Fredrik Bond and also stars Rupert Grint, Evan Rachel Wood and Mads Mikkelsen, is slated to debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

The actor, who recently went full frontal in a Sigur Ros music video, also opened up to MTV News about his upcoming role in Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac,” where the actors will be having sex with each other.

“There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says, ‘We’re doing it for real,’” Shia explained. “Anything that is ‘illegal’ will be shot in blurred images. But other than that, everything is happening….It’s going to be a wild movie, man. It’s going to be a wild movie.”
