Shia LaBeouf Talks Dating Carey Mulligan, Wants ‘Transformers 3’ To Be ‘Best Action Movie Ever Made’

Shia LaBeouf says he was very “grateful” to star opposite girlfriend Carey Mulligan in the upcoming “Wall Street: Money Never Sleep,” but assured Access Hollywood’s Tim Vincent that despite their onscreen chemistry, they always kept it professional.

“We’re both actors, first and foremost. We were very professional about it; we were there to do a job — No. 1,” he told Tim earlier this week at the Cannes Film Festival when asked about working with his girlfriend.

“She’s an extraordinarily talented actress and it was easy to play those scenes,” Shia continued. “I’m very grateful that she was able to play that role, for more than one reason… and you know, I’m a happy man.”

Tim also caught up with the 24-year-old who makes Shia so happy in Cannes – Carey — who said she didn’t think about acting opposite her boyfriend in the “Wall Street” sequel.

“I’m pro. I’m only ever thinking about the character,” Carey told Tim. “For me you’ve always got to try and tell the story on the page. I think we have brilliantly written characters and we were put in great scenarios and we had a solid director.”

In more Shia big screen news, the actor said he starts work on the third installment of the “Transformers” series next week.

“This is the biggest movie we’ve ever tried to make,” he said of the third Michael Bay movie that is sure to be another blockbuster. “We wanna make the best action movie ever made… the goal is to make the best movie we can make.”

The actor also revealed that he’s fully recovered from injuries stemming from his July 2008 car accident in Los Angeles that saw truck tip over, landing on its side, and on Shia’s hand.

“I’m good to go,” he explained. “When you’re told you can’t make a fist again and then you make a fist again — it’s like a real victory… I feel good.”
