Simon Cowell: Mariah Carey ‘Involved In Some Form’ With ‘The X Factor’

Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor” is getting Mimi – but not as a judge.

During an interview on Friday with Jackie Brown of 92.9ZZU radio in Spokane, Wash., the creator and judge explained that Mariah Carey will be involved with his upcoming FOX reality competition, but not as a judge.

“She’s pregnant… I would literally have to have the auditions in a maternity unit or something and I think that’s stretching it,” he said of the singer, who is expecting twins with husband Nick Cannon.

“I think Mariah will have a role on the live shows,” the British reality TV mogul continued. “I met her recently and she was on great form and her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which of course only Mariah could come up with. She’ll be involved in some form.”

Adding, “I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”

Simon said they’re still deciding who will join himself and former record label executive L.A. Reid at the judges’ table.

“Getting close on the other two,” he said of the two vacant judge spots. “We’re getting down to the wire.”

“The X Factor” will premiere this fall on FOX.
