Simon Cowell played coy with reporters on Thursday when it was brought up that he reportedly has a child on the way.
“Congrats on the addition to your family. Was that as much of a surprise to you as it was to us? And does that have an effect, going forward, on your schedule?” a reporter asked during “The X Factor” presentation at Fox’s portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills.
“I haven’t read the newspapers. Am I missing something?” Simon replied, with a smile.

Demi Lovato, Simon’s fellow “X Factor” judge quickly chimed in, telling Simon he didn’t need to address the question.
“Even if you did read the newspaper, I feel like you don’t have to answer anything,” she said.

The Brit, obviously, is aware of the news – that he is reportedly expecting a baby with Lauren Silverman, the estranged wife of a friend (Andrew Silverman) – but Simon told reporters he could not comment on the news.
“Unfortunately I have to keep this, for the moment, private, but… it’s just one of those things, but thank you very much anyway,” he said.
