Simon Cowell On Britney & The Election

Notoriously tough “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell has chimed in on Britney Spears, claiming his phone line is always open.

In a teleconference earlier today to promote Season 7 of Fox’s popular show, Cowell expressed concern for the pop star and noted that if Brit wants to, “She is welcome to call me anytime.”

The Englishman also offered some advice about what he would do to help get the troubled pop star back on track.

“I genuinely think [that] if I sat down with Britney I would, number one, remind her of all the good things in her life which are her kids, her money, her success, everything. So, I would try and give her some perspective,” Cowell said. “Then I would take her out of where she is living at the moment and ask her to go and live with her family and live normally for six months because if you live normally and do normal things, you will suddenly find that the paparazzi aren’t camped outside your door everyday.

“But most importantly, [I’d] just give her a sense of perspective because it looks to me at the moment that she is out of control and she has got to have someone in her life who she has got to listen to,” he added.

Cowell said that despite her recent troubles, there is no chance that her career is over.

“It’s never too late because I think she is the most searched artist on the internet in the world at the moment,” he said.

In other Cowell-commentary news, in addition to his enthusiasm for the new season of “Idol,” the Brit said he is excited about the upcoming presidential election.

“I [find] it an absolutely fascinating race to watch this year,” he said. “[It’s] incredibly unpredictable and I think it’s going to be one of the most exciting elections you guys have seen in a long time.”

So does he have any predictions on who will win?

“My gut feeling is I think it will be a democrat who is going to win the election in November,” he said. “I’m fairly sure of that.”
