Sir Elton John & David Furnish — Proud New Parents Of A Baby Boy!

Sir Elton John and David Furnish are the proud new parents of a baby boy, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The couple welcomed Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John on Christmas Day in California, according to Us Weekly, who was first to report the joyful news.

“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” Elton and David told the mag in a joint statement on Monday. “Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.”

Zachary was born via a surrogate and weighed in at 7 lbs., 15 oz., according to the mag.

A rep for the couple also told the mag that “they intend to protect and respect the privacy of their surrogate, and will not be discussing any details relating to the surrogacy arrangements.”

This is the first child for the 62-year-old “Tiny Dancer” singer and his longtime partner, who he married in 2005 after 12 years of dating.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the music legend attempted to adopt a 14-month-old HIV-infected Ukrainian boy named Lev in September 2009 (who he met during a visit to an orphanage).

However, the adoption was immediately rejected by Ukrainian Family, Youth and Sports Minister Yuriy Pavlenko, who told The Associated Press at the time that adoptive parents must be married, and Ukraine does not recognize civil unions as marriage.

Pavlenko also took issue with Elton’s age – the singer is 62 and Ukrainian law requires a parent to be no more than 45 years older than an adopted child.
