‘SNL’ Spy Spoof ‘MacGruber’ Headed To Big Screen

Will Forte’s “MacGruber” typically has about 20 seconds to get his friends out of trouble – albeit, always inevitably unsuccessfully — during his spy spoof “Saturday Night Live” skits.

Now, he’s about to get a lot more time – on a lot bigger screen.

“MacGruber” is headed to the big screen, according to Variety.

Along with Forte as the title character, Kristen Wiig will take her role as Vicki along for the ride.

In addition, Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer are also in talks to possibly join the cast.

Specific plot lines of the film are still being kept under wraps.

Forte’s bumbling “MacGruber” is just the latest in a long line of “SNL” characters who have made the jump to the big screen, including Dan Aykroyd’s pointed comedy “Coneheads;” Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan’s head-boppin’ Butabi brothers in “Night At The Roxbury;” Molly Shannon’s Mary Katherine Gallagher in “Superstar;” Tim Meadows’ smooth talking “The Ladies Man;” and Mike Myers and Dana Carvey’s head-banging Wayne and Garth in the “Wayne’s World” films.
