Sophie Monk Says Benji Madden Didn’t Leave Her For Paris Hilton

Benji Madden’s former paramour, Sophie Monk, released a statement denying the Good Charlotte rocker ended their relationship over Paris Hilton.

“Let me make this as plain as possible – Benji did not leave me for Paris Hilton,” Monk, 28, said in a statement, Australia’s Herald Sun reported. “Benji and I did not break up badly or anything like that. We both decided, as adults, our relationship had run its course and decided to move on. I feel no animosity towards Benji and Paris at all and am very happy with life at the moment.”

Sophie, an Australian model and singer, and Good Charlotte’s Madden, split earlier this year. They were previously engaged, according to Sophie’s Web site, after Benji proposed in December 2006.

Recently Benji has been dating Paris, a match which has captured the public’s attention as his twin brother, Joel, just had a baby with Paris’ best friend, Nicole Richie.

Rumors began swirling this past weekend that Benji and Paris became engaged after the celebutante was spotted with a diamond on her wedding finger.

People first reported the news after Paris was captured on camera, exiting XIV Karats, a jewelry store in Beverly Hills, sporting the sparkler.

Paris has also been spotted with a “B” necklace, believed to be for Benji. Coincidentally, while Sophie was dating Benji, she also wore a “B” around her neck.
