Spice Girls: Back And Naughtier Than Ever

Ten years ago, the Spice Girls unleashed themselves on America and became an instant success. From “Wannabe” to “Spice Up Your Life,” their music took over radio, their images took over store shelves, their faces took over TV with appearances and major sponsorship ads (Pepsi’s “Generation Next” ad anyone?) and they even stormed movie theaters with their very own film, “Spice World.”

Ten years later, the Spice Girls may be Spice Moms, but they’re back and as Access Hollywood found out on Thursday night backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, they are naughtier than ever.

“We started hanging out together and I phoned up Emma [Bunton] and said, ‘Oh my God! I want to be a Spice Girl again ‘cause it’s just so much fun,” Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush.

“It happened quite naturally,” Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton said. “We all started talking and it was like, ‘Oh my gosh! Could you imagine if we did something again?’ It happened quite naturally.”

Backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Scary, Baby, Sporty, Ginger and Posh proved they have come a long way since Spicemania began over ten years ago.

“We have got a little bit older,” Geri said.

“We have got children,” Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton added.

There are seven Spice Kids between them including Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham’s three boys.

“This is our opportunity to say, ‘Look! Mommy was a pop star,’ and that is so cool,” Posh laughed.

Posh confirmed all the Spice children will come on the road with their moms.

“We are like a travelling Spice Circus,” Geri noted.

Mel C is the only Spice Girl without children, but she hinted to Access, she plans to be more than “Auntie Spice” as Geri referred to her.

“Not yet, but soon,” Mel C said.

Since news of their reunion was leaked, reports began surfacing that the girls are earning, allegedly $20 million, something Billy asked them about.

“I can put the record straight here,” Geri said. “First and foremost this is probably, the type of show that we are putting on costs . . . approximately 37 million dollars OK? In order for us to recoup that we would have to go on tour for a year. Really, we are doing it for the fans and ourselves.”

“This isn’t about the money,” Posh added.

“Even if we were to make some money, would somebody begrudge us? We’re working hard here – hello?” Mel C noted.

Money aside, the girls are thrilled to be back together.

“I always hoped for it,” Geri told Access. “It is a dream come true. It really is.”

“You know what it so fantastic?” Mel C began, “the first time around it was amazing — everything that we did. When you are young and something happens to you and you don’t fully appreciate it, well, we have got a second chance to really enjoy it and that is what we are going to do every single second.”
