Extreme skier Rory Bushfield made the biggest splash on “Splash” Season 1, taking home the title.
The first season of the ABC reality diving competition came down to three finalists actress: Nicole Eggert, 41, Rory Bushfield, 29, and actor Drake Bell, 26.
After one round of dives, Drake was eliminated by the judges, leaving Nicole and Rory with one dive each and an audience vote to decide the winner.
Nicole attempted for a double back flip off the seven-meter platform, but hit the water flat on her back.
“I need help. I hurt my back,” she said after hitting the water.
Rory, who ruptured an eardrum while training, performed a two-and-a-half front flips dive and hit the water head first.
His successful dive helped him nabbed the “Splash” crown. He said his late wife Sarah Burke, who died after a ski accident in January 2012, helped motivate him during his time on the show.
“I think I’m just inspired by my wife Sarah, looking down,” he said after his win. “We started a Sarah Burke foundation, so I’m very motivated to spread the word and help kids like Sarah did, so yeah, that’s my motivation.”
