Staff Blog: Wine, Women & Russell Crowe (October 27, 2006)

Women and wine. Wine and women. And a movie with Russell Crowe! How can it be?

In the past few months, I was seeking a place to meet great new female friends who were like-minded in interests. Lo and behold, while seeking out entertainment events, I came across this too brilliant organization that is so fun and so entertaining, that I feel compelled to pass on the info to great women everywhere.

Hence, I discovered Women & Wine. Recently, they have showcased a screening series related to all things food and drink. ?Babette’s Feast,? ?Like Water for Chocolate? and ?Big Night?, held at the Crest Theatre here in Westwood, CA. I tell ya – these are my peeps! They did it up with style and grace. A pre-screening reception with several wine selections from the areas depicted in the film. Sumptuous dinners were served to enjoy while viewing the movies. Immediately after the screenings, more wine to sample!

I have seen films in every major theatre and I do not think any compare to the beauty of the Crest Theatre. It is truly a feast for the eyes (and please forgive the pun).

Women and Wine founder Julie Brosterman and co-founder and editorial director Sharon Boorstin (and their amazing posse) also host Girlfriends Getaways which are wine-related signature travel packages. More about that at another time.

On October 30th, Women & Wine will host a special VIP screening and wine reception for the new Russell Crowe movie, ?A Good Year.? W&W screenings of this film will be held the same evening in Dallas, Washington, DC, Atlanta, New York and other major cities nationwide. Wine will be served from a winery in Provence owned by the French producer who held the rights to ?A Good Year? and sold it to Ridley Scott! The seats were filled within hours of the invite being sent out. This fabulous group has received major reviews both in electronic and newsprint and they deserve every good word. The best part is that I have made friends – and you know in LA that is not always the easiest thing to do. Women & Wine rocks. Check them out www.womenwine.com. Classy women, classy events.

I, Ms. Ooh La La France, will be covering the event so make sure to read my follow-up blog next week and check our website for photos of this too fun night!

Bon Jour!
