‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Release Pushed Back

The release of “Star
Wars: Episode VIII” has been pushed back.

The film, originally
scheduled to hit theaters on May 26, 2017, will now be released on December 15,
2017, Walt Disney Studios announced on Wednesday.

In addition to “Star
Wars,” the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” installment has been
given a new release date.

Originally set for
theatrical release on July 7, 2017, “Pirates of
the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will now be released on May 26,
2017, the studio announced.

The opening of
“Episode VIII” will now come almost exactly one year to the day that
“Episode VII: The Force Awakens” hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
