Stars Channel Hippies For Rainforest Foundation

NEW YORK (May 22, 2006) — Access takes you on the road to recovery as Sheryl Crow proves, like Melissa Etheridge before her, that guts, perseverance and a will to live can beat all the odds.

Looking healthy and sounding strong, a beaming Sheryl triumphantly took the stage at the “Rainforest Foundation Fund Benefit” Friday at Carnegie Hall just weeks after completing radiation treatment for breast cancer.

Making no mention of her recovery, Sheryl donned three hippie chic outfits, including one with a wild wig, and performed five times, including a Sonny and Cher duet with Sting.

She’s doing great,” Sting told Access. “She’s fantastic. She looks great. She’s so full of joie de vivre.”

Organized by Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler, the Woodstock-themed concert was star-studded, with comic relief provided by Will Ferrell and Russell Crowe — who fronts a band as a side project — making a surprise appearance.

Will gave a stirring rendition of one of the strangest songs ever recorded — “MacArthur Park.”

But even more unexpected?

Lenny Kravitz leading Sheryl, Billy Joel and James Taylor off the stage, through the audience and one-by-one, right by our cameras.

“I think that was probably the best one we’ve done,” Sting laughed. “We always say that, but it was damn good.”
