Stars Pick Up Their Paddles For St. Jude’s

LOS ANGELES (May 1, 2007) — Santiago Cabrera may have been able to paint the future on “Heroes”? but how is he at ping pong?

The departed “Hero” is just one of the many stars pitching in for the inaugural Celebrity Grand Slam Paddle Jam to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Thursday in Hollywood.

Open to the public, guests will have the chance to test their ping pong skills or to sit back and watch the action while enjoying food, drink, music and fun.

The event will also feature a celebrity exhibition tournament, where stars will be pitted against each other in a battle for ping pong supremacy.

All proceeds from the event will support St. Jude’s efforts to help children with cancer and other major diseases.

Other stars expected to attend include fellow “Heroes” stars Jack Coleman and Tawny Cypress; “What About Brian” stars Barry Watson and Rick Gomez; as well as Lacey Chabert, Ioan Gruffud, Aisha Tyler, Jon Lovitz and many more.

The event begins at 7 p.m. at Vanguard Hollywood (6021 Hollywood Blvd.).

Guest tickets are $75 each or $250 for a Tournament Double Team. No tickets will be sold at the door.
