Stephen Collins, Wife Begin Dramatic Divorce Proceedings

Stephen Collins and his estranged wife, Faye Grant, appeared in a Downtown LA courtroom on Wednesday for the beginning of their divorce proceedings.

Access Hollywood was inside the courtroom as lawyers for both parties told Judge Mark Juhas they’ve made headway toward a settlement in the former couple’s marital split, but may need the court’s assistance in finalizing the language.

The disagreements that persisted pertained to spousal support, separate property and who would control the rights to a recording Grant made, in which Collins acknowledges he had sexual contact with underage girls. The audio was made back in 2012 during a therapy session.

Juhas said he wants Grant and Collins, as well as their attorneys, to continue working on resolving their issues and report back on January 21 for a settlement conference.

If no settlement is reached, the case will go to trial as scheduled on February 9.

After the hearing, Collins’ attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, spoke to Access Hollywood about how his client is dealing with the divorce process.

“He’s hopeful,” Kaplan said. “What’s important to him is that his friends, his family, the public knew exactly what happened and not what was left to the imagination of others who were more interested in sensationalizing something than to be sympathetic to what the facts are.”

Grant’s attorney, Kristina Royce, declined comment.
