‘Suicide Squad’: New Jared Leto As The Joker Photo

Fans now
have the first head-to-toe look at
Jared Leto’s Joker from the upcoming “Suicide Squad.”

The actor appears on the cover of Empire magazine in a purple
snakeskin trench coat (shirtless underneath), Arkham Asylum pajama
pants, holding a cane and going barefoot.

The character’s striking green hair and tattoos (his ink
includes a “Joker” tat and a giant grin tat etched across his abs)
are also on full display.

The actor opened up to the mag about diving off the deep end
for the role that he committed to staying in character the entire time he was
around his co-stars.

“There was definitely a period of… detachment,”
the actor told the mag, as excerpted by ComicBookMovie.com.
“I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I
couldn’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological
games. But at the same time, it was very painful, like giving birth out of my
prick hole.”

The actor’s
commitment to the role also involved pranking co-star Jim Parrack, who plays his henchman, Jonny Frost.

“I was just thinking that the Joker would probably just
say, ‘F*** you,’ and hang up,” the actor, who called his co-star and
ordered him to spray paint roses and fill a backpack with nails, said.

“Suicide
Squad” – which also stars Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Margot
Robbie as Harley Quinn, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai
Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Adewale
Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, and Jay Hernandez as
El Diablo –  hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
