‘Supernatural,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Reign’ Among Early The CW Renewals

There will be more arrow slinging, neck biting, demon fighting and royal teen drama on The CW in the 2014-2015 television season.

On Thursday, The CW announced early renewals of several of their dramas, including Season 3 of “Arrow,” Season 10 of “Supernatural” and a second season of freshman series “Reign.”

Other shows picked up by The CW included “The Originals” Season 2 and “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6.

“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series ‘The Originals’ paired with ‘Supernatural,’ giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is #2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with ‘Arrow’ continuing to gain among young men, and ‘Reign’ growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,” The CW’s President, Mark Pedowitz, said in a release on Thursday. “I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”

“Arrow” star Stephen Amell quickly posted the news on his Twitter page, writing, “#Arrow #Season3 Happening.”

He also announced the pickup news on Facebook, writing, “FACEBOOK! Arrow Season 3 is happening.”

“I LOVE EVERYBODY!!!” he added.

The show is currently The CW’s most-watched series (3.9 million), and is number one in its time period among men 18-34 (1.4).

The CW could announce more pickups at upfronts in May.
