Surprise Elimination Follows Fiery Night Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

After Monday’s dramatic night in the “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom for Broadway Week, another contender received their ticket home.

(SPOILER – this story contains the elimination results from Tuesday’s “DWTS”)

While it was Maksim Chmerkovskiy who took on the judges in person, live and on air, after Len Goodman criticized Hope Solo’s flat-footed dancing, it was a contender who took them on in a confessional camera – Chaz Bono – who went home.

“You know, I took so much away from this. This was an amazing journey that really pushed me and showed me that I could do so much more than I ever thought I could,” Chaz said after learning the news.

As for that confessional camera, on Tuesday, ABC played footage of activist Chaz ranting against the judges – and, in particular, Bruno Tonioli – for comparing him to animals.

“If you’re an overweight woman in this competition, losing weight, they love you. If you’re an overweight guy trying to do this competition, getting in shape, they penalize you for it, call you a penguin,” Chaz was captured telling the cameras after last night’s show, which saw him and partner Lacey Schwimmer receive just 19/30 points.

“Bruno [expletive] makes comments about me being cute and cuddly and [compared me to an] Ewok, with the Princess Leia and this, like I’m some fat troll dancing with this beautiful woman every week and I’m sick of it,” he added.

While Chaz was clearly angry in the tape, his last words before leaving the show were ones of hope.

“I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man, and I know that if there was somebody like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would’ve been different and so I dedicate everything I did to all the people out there like me and especially the kids and teens who are struggling,” he said. “You can have a wonderful great life and be successful and happy.”

Chaz, the son of superstar entertainer Cher and the late Sonny Bono, may have been the most controversial contestant in the show’s history.

Not long after the transgender activist’s name was announced in the celebrity lineup back in August, ABC’s “Dancing” message board was flooded with viewers who vowed to boycott the show and said it was no longer a family program due to his casting.

Cher quickly leapt to her son’s defense, hitting Twitter as the controversy erupted.

“I support him no matter what he chooses 2do!” she Tweeted the day after the announcement. “It took COURAGE 2 do dwts ! TG Chaz has an Unlimited supply.”

And on Tuesday night, Cher was back on Twitter, Tweeting her support for her son in the wake of his elimination.

“I Have Got 2Hold my TEMPER,” she wrote. “MY Tears R OK ! Congratulations Chaz I’m SO PROUD OF U ! This was YOUR Quest…& u Followed your Star.”
