Susan Boyle Beats Out ‘New Moon,’ Dancing Babies For Most Watched YouTube Clip Of 2009

Susan Boyle has beaten out wedding dancers, vampires, werewolves, children and babies to top the list of Most Watched YouTube videos for 2009.

The Scottish singing sensation, who was introduced to most of the world back in April through the Internet video service, scored the top spot on the Web site’s first official list, netting more than 120 million views this year, YouTube announced on Tuesday.

And SuBo didn’t just top the list — rather, she slayed her competition. “David After Dentist,” a nearly two-minute clip of a child recovering in the back seat of his dad’s car following a trip to the tooth doctor, netted a far behind second place with just over 37 million views.

“JK Wedding Entrance Dance,” which saw an entire wedding party bust out moves down the aisle to Chris Brown’s “Forever,” placed third worldwide on the Most Watched list with 33 million.

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” movie trailer took fourth place, scoring 31 million, while the “Evian Roller Babies” clip garnered fifth place with more than 27 million views.

In addition to compiling their Most Watched YouTube videos, the Web site also counted down the Top 5 Most Watched music videos. Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me,” took first with more than 82 million views, while Miley Cyrus took second for “The Climb” (64 million views), and third for “Party In The U.S.A.” (48 million views). Fourth place went to The Lonely Island’s “I’m On A Boat” (a digital short featured on “Saturday Night Live” from Andy Samberg and his Lonely Island bandmates –Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone — and featuring T-Pain), which was watched more than 48 million times and Keri Hilson took the fifth spot with “Knock You Down,” which garnered more than 35 million views.

Other lists the Web portal released included their monthly Fastest Rising YouTube search terms – one for global searches and one for U.S. searches.

President Barack Obama’s inauguration was the top search on both of these latter lists for January 2009. Other consistencies between the two lists included Susan Boyle in April, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in June, Kanye West in September and Tiger Woods in December.
