Susan Sarandon Opens Up About Split With Tim Robbins

Susan Sarandon has finally opened up about her split from Tim Robbins last year after more than two decades together.

In a new interview with the UK’s Telegraph newspaper, the actress hinted that the couple may have naturally come to the conclusion of their relationship.

“You bring people into your life at certain times,” the “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” actress told the newspaper. “Maybe you have a relationship to have children and you realize that it’s fulfilled after that point.”

When news of Susan and Tim’s split first surfaced, reports linked the actress to her much younger ping-pong club business partner Jonathan Bricklin, 31. Susan told The Telegraph that she kept her cool about the reports through humor.

“You have to have a sense of humor,” she said. “There are lots of people in my life at the moment.”

Beyond the rumors, news of Tim and Susan’s break-up prompted people to come up to the actress to share their own sadness.

“People were coming up to me in the street and saying ‘I cried and cried when I heard.’ Well, I was sadder! I didn’t think it would ever happen, either,” she said.

The actress, who was married just once – at the age of 20 to Chris Sarandon – said she and Tim never thought of making their union official.

“I’ve always liked the idea of choosing to be with somebody,” she revealed to the British paper.

“I thought that if you didn’t get married you wouldn’t take each other for granted as easily. I don’t know if after 20-something years that was still true,” she added.
