AT LAST, BECKHAM: Aging (since when did 32 count as “aging?”) soccer super-star David Beckham finally arrives in L.A. this week to start practice with the L.A. Galaxy. Expect media frenzy. And check out the new W magazine, featuring Becks and wife Victoria on the cover and inside in muy provocative poses. They seem to be selling a little too hard. A favor please – let us know when (and if) Beckham makes a movie that anyone actually pays to see.

LIVE EARTH, DEAD NUMBERS: Despite it’s global reach and mega-star power the weekend’s Live Earth concert did poorly in the U.S., viewed by approx 19 million in the U.S. Can’t tell if (a) it felt like a re-run or (b) people are truly tired of being preached to.

JUST ASK TATUM: Tatum O’Neal is one of those stars who (a) really is interesting and (b) who gets more interesting as she gets older. On Access Hollywood tonight she talks with Maria Menounos about:

Her often-strained relationship with her dad, Ryan.

“I hope that he does apologize to me but I’m not gonna hold my breath.”

His severely cranky nature:

“You didn’t want to leave no eggs in the house, you didn’t want to be too noisy, didn’t want to wake him before 11.”

Ryan denies those allegations. And don’t look for the “healing” to begin any time soon.

“I wish him the best…but I don’t know about the happy endings all the time. Maybe they don’t, you know, maybe for me to be the woman that I am I can’t have a happy ending with him, I don’t know.

And then there’s Tatum’s take on young stars and their problems, the first of which is handling fame.

“It is fleeting. I mean it’s not forever and the money goes and the fame goes and then you have to ask yourself what do you have, you know?”

BY THE WAY: FX’s series ‘Rescue Me’ is a great fit for this tough-talking actress.

DOA: Jane Magazine, the trend-spotting magazine for youngish women that wanted to be a trend-setter has gone belly up after a decade. Word today it will not have an on-line afterlife as some magazines have. Last issue publishes in August.

PRICEY HOUSING: A Beverly Hills house that once belonged to William Randolph Hearst is on the market for $165 million. It may be the most expensive home that someone actually lives in in the U.S. Note: the house had been used in “The Godfather” and in Whitney Houston’s movie “The Bodyguard.”

FINALLY, HE’S NO BLOGGER: What Kent Couch did over the weekend had nothing to do with the Internet, he didn’t announce it via Blog. It wasn’t digitized. And we did not get a News Release on it. Therefore we celebrate it. Kent Couch launched a lawn chair with 105 large helium balloons and flew 193 miles in just under 9 hours. Below him was a three car caravan filled with friends, family and the dog. He said he could hear cattle and children from his perch in the sky. He told one t-v station “It was beautiful. Beautiful.” Amen
