Tamera Mowry-Housley Excited To Play Parent For First Time In Career In Christmas Movie

Tamera Mowry-Housley crossed a new career milestone with GMC television movie, “Christmas Angel,” premiering later this year – her first time portraying a parent on screen.

“It was my first time playing a mom,” the pregnant actress said on Thursday as she promoted the project, in which she co-stars alongside Della Reese, Teri Polo and Kevin Sorbo, at GMC’s portion of the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills.

Tamera said shooting the project, which she did while just four months along, actually helped give her a look into her future as a mom.

“It was just so much fun because I kind of got to see what I’m gonna be going through, well in 10 years,” Tamera, whose first child – a son – is due in October, added.

The actress said she is looking forward to watching the movie with her family when it premieres in December.

“I know with my family, every Christmas, it’s a tradition for us to just get together [and watch a Christmas movie],” she said. “I can’t wait to share this one with my family — my son will be born then — and my mom and my dad.”

Tamera was shooting her reality show with sister Tia– “Tia & Tamera” — at the same time she was shooting the Christmas movie.

“I haven’t seen it, where will I find it?” Della, a former star of “Touched by An Angel,” asked Tamera when her reality show was brought up by a reporter.

“On the Style network. You gonna watch it?” Tamera asked.

“Yes,” Della said.

“Awesome,” Tamera laughed.

“Christmas Angel” premieres December 1 at 7, 9 and 11 PM ET on GMC.
