Taylor Hicks Meets Weird Al

LOS ANGELES (November 22, 2006) — Two weeks ago Weird Al introduced the world to his new single, ‘Do I Creep You Out,’ a parody of American Idol Taylor Hicks’ ‘Do I Make You Proud.’ Last week though the two men met for the first time in front of Access Hollywood’s rolling cameras.

Moments after telling Access he had recently been watching Taylor sing Al’s parody version in an online clip, the two bumped into each other on our slot on the American Music Awards red carpet.

“It’s great,” a shocked Weird Al told Access. “It’s like my doppelganger.”

Taylor confirmed in person, he loved Al’s version of his song.

“I thought it was great. Anytime you get Weird Al to parody you man, it’s like a dream come true,” Hicks said.

“Where’s my wallet,” Al then joked.

Weird Al’s AMA’s week also afforded him an introduction to rap star Chamillionaire, who’s song “Ridin’” was parodied in Al’s “White And Nerdy.”

“I just met Chamillionaire for the first time [Monday] in rehearsals,” Al told Access. “He’s a really sweet guy. We got along great.”

Weird Al has been making the rounds since releasing ‘Straight Outta Lynnwood,’ his 12th artist album, this past summer. He’ll be on the radar well into next year as the singer plans to embark on a tour next summer. Despite his recent celebrity hook ups, Al says his support act will be from another entertainment spectrum.

“Somebody that works cheap,” he joked to Access. “No, no, we usually work with a local stand-up comedian who is clean ‘cause it’s sort of a family, friendly show.”
